Turning water-risk data into decision clarity
The company operates a global network of manufacturing facilities and
supply chains where access to water is critical for business continuity. As
water-risk exposure increased across regions, the organisation sought a
practical way to simplify complex water datasets and prioritise action.
The challenge
The company had accumulated significant volumes of water data across more than 25 production sites worldwide. The challenge was not generating additional information but converting existing data into a consistent and scalable methodology capable of prioritising action across the organisation. The sheer volume and complexity of the data limited its effectiveness as a decision-making tool.
The approach
dss+ applied an Operational Risk Management framework to transform fragmented data into a structured, actionable risk model. Existing information was consolidated into four core categories covering water supply, water quality, input compliance and output compliance.
Existing metrics were mapped and assessed against each category, creating a simple dashboard that shows where the greatest risks sit globally while allowing teams to drill down to individual sites.

The inflection point
“Leaders can now compare water exposure consistently across 25+ sites, quickly identify where action is required and drill down to the underlying risk drivers.”
