A leading global Oil & Gas and integrated energy company was concerned about the performance of its downstream portfolio, following a number of serious process safety incidents across several strategic downstream sites. Given an increasing growth of its downstream business portfolio, the company leadership requested a risk-based process safety assessment from dss+ to drive risk reduction, strengthening of capabilities and practices, and performance improvement.
Challenge
dss+ was requested to go beyond a traditional site audit and help an already mature organisation with a strong value for safety to understand the key barriers towards improved performance and define pragmatic priorities and solutions to drive impact and future sustainability.

dss+ leveraged a risk-based approach to review the downstream organisation across key strategic sites to derive both site specific opportunities and common themes that could elevate process safety culture and performance consistently across the downstream business portfolio.

A key success factor was engagement and commitment of senior leadership to discuss accountability, align on a joint case for change and set the tone at the top through immediate personal and visible actions to achieve objectives.
