Oil and Gas Director, USA

What does a typical day look like as a Director in the Oil & Gas team?

Like most consulting roles, no two days are exactly alike, which makes this work so energizing. One day, I might be pitching a CEO of a Gulf Coast refinery on facilitating safety leadership workshops with frontline supervisors; the next, I might be working on a brand building thought leadership piece on how Oil & Gas companies can partner with AI data center hyperscalers.

Every day involves problem-solving, collaborating across functions, and delivering consulting excellence and dss+ solutions to the market.

Why did you choose a career in consulting?

I’ve always been drawn to the challenge of helping people solve complex, high-stakes problems. I worked in EPC capital projects for a decade, which was very rewarding, however after a few years everything started to look the same and my learning curve plateaued. Consulting is such a dynamic career I feel it gives me a front-row seat to the toughest issues in industry, and the opportunity to work with many different clients across global challenges.

In Oil & Gas, those challenges involve safety, environmental responsibility, and meeting the critical energy needs for global populations. I chose consulting because it gives me the ability to influence the executives that control the direction of the industry to make a lasting impact.

What do our values mean to you?

At dss+, we talk a lot about safety, sustainability, and operational excellence - but these aren’t just buzzwords. We live our values and enjoy being the kind of partner that listens deeply, challenges respectfully, and stays until the job is truly done.

To me, our values show up in how we put people first, especially in industries where lives are on the line every day. They also show up in how we help clients build capability, not dependency. That’s what makes our work real and lasting.

Why did you join dss+?

I joined dss+ because I wanted to be part of a firm that blends deep technical expertise with the satisfaction of a human-first, safety centered approach. We’re not just advising from the sidelines, we’re out in the field, working shoulder-to-shoulder with our clients.

What are you most proud of?

I’m proudest of the moments when a client says, “We couldn’t have done this without you.” When I can see the connection between my team's work, and the ability to save lives, it's a very powerful and rewarding feeling.

Personally, I’m very proud of the team in Houston - an expert team of trusted advisors in an industry that’s both deeply technical and deeply human. Helping operators make safer choices, empowering frontline leaders, and knowing that our work has ripple effects to help change the industry for the better - that’s what keeps me going.
