Manager based in Italy
What does a typical day look like as a Manager in the Operational Risk Management team?
A typical day as a Manager at dss+ is fast-paced and varied, managing multiple projects at once. Depending on the project phase, I may travel to client sites to present progress, address challenges, or discuss safety culture assessments and necessary changes.
Managers ensure smooth project execution, tracking deadlines, budgets, and deliverables while helping the team overcome roadblocks. I also review reports and presentations to ensure quality and alignment with client expectations.
Business development is key, whether supporting senior colleagues with new opportunities or strengthening relationships with existing clients.
Why did you choose a career in consulting?
I jumped into consulting about 2 years ago after several years working in the Oil & Gas and Chemical industries. I chose to join consulting because I felt the need for expanding my experience across various sectors, leveraging on the competences acquired by working in mature and complex industries such as the O&G and Chemical. Another reason I went into consulting, though, is the variety. Every client is different and helping them navigate tough decisions and improve their safety performances is extremely rewarding.
Why did you join dss+?
Being passionate about safety, always eager to learn, I could not miss the chance of joining a company that for decades, if we consider the Dupont heritage, has contributed and it is still contributing in creating best practices for improving safety and keep pushing the bar higher and higher. Plus, I get to meet and collaborate with talented people both within dss+ and from our clients with whom I share the same passion. At dss+ there is this mix of pure professional consultants and colleagues coming from the industry bringing a different perspective and skill set. I believe that this is almost unique in the market and key for connecting with our clients and delivering results.
What are you most proud of?
To me, it’s all about making a difference and creating an impact for our client, not just through the work we do but through the mindset we bring to every project, decision, and interaction. It means that everything we do whether it’s delivering high-quality work, being there for our clients, or thinking through solutions has the potential to improve how safety is managed and protect workers in one way or another.
"To me, it’s all about making a difference and creating an impact for our client, not just through the work we do but through the mindset we bring to every project, decision, and interaction."
What do our values mean to you?
I have personally found it very fulfilling, being part of an empowering organization built on these four-core values Respect for People, Health and Safety, the highest Ethical Behaviour and Environmental Stewardship.
I see them as my guiding principles helping me towards making decisions that benefit both people and the broader world around us having in mind the long-term impact of our actions.
The best part is that at dss+, these values are not only talked about, but we really believe in them and we bring them to life as we like to say by “walking the talk”.
